The Role of the TP53 Gene in Apoptosis and Tumor Suppression
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: TP53 is an important tumor suppressor gene that plays a vital role in maintaining DNA stability, regulating cell growth, and preventing cancerous transformations in the human body. This review article examines the identification and description of the TP53 gene, the function of the p53 protein, mutation, DNA damage, apoptosis, the mechanism of apoptosis, cancer, and their interrelationship. The findings indicate that TP53 is a fundamental component of cellular regulation, and its dysfunction or disruption is considered one of the major causes of cancer development.
Method: The research methodology involved a systematic and organized search based on key terms in scientific databases such, as well as various reliable scientific articles. Through this approach, original research articles, review papers, and analytical studies were examined.
Result and conclosion: In many cancers, the activity of the TP53 gene is lost or altered, leading to uncontrolled and abnormal cellular proliferation. To better understand this issue, it is necessary to investigate the functional mechanisms of TP53 and its abnormalities. This study is important because it contributes to understanding the fundamental causes of cancer, assists in discovering new therapeutic approaches, and has practical value for students of biology and medicine. Knowledge about TP53 function not only improves the understanding of cancer biology but also provides an important foundation for the development of novel therapeutic strategies. Therefore, the study of the TP53 gene holds special significance in modern medicine and cancer research.
